Listen, Learn, Live.
The God who created the heavens and the earth is the God who speaks.
He makes fun of the gods that men create as they are dumb and unable to speak to those who worship them.
From the creation of man God spoke with Adam and Eve. In fact, we are able to speak and hear because we are made in His image. After sin separated man from God, God still spoke to individuals, like Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses and many other prophets.
Heb 1:1 God, who at various times and in different ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Just prior to the revealing of His Son, Jesus the Christ, God sent one final prophet to prepare the way for Him, John the baptiser. John came preaching that the Kingdom of God and the Messiah were about to be revealed, baptising with a baptism of repentance for the remission of (release from) sins to prepare for the public manifestation of the Lamb of God; The One Who would take away the sins of the world.
While the common people listened to John and submitted to his baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins, the religious elite rejected him and his message. God will only speak to those who are willing to do according to His advice. If we are not willing to do His will, then He will not speak to us.
Pride and an unrealistic view of our own wisdom and abilities can also be an obstacle to our hearing God. God speaks in a still, small voice. If we do not become still and small we may miss His voice. While Jesus had time to speak to prostitutes, thieves and the common people, He did not waste words on those who would not lower themselves to listen to Him. King Herod really wanted to see Jesus do some miracle or sign but he didnít want to pay attention to what He said. As a result Jesus did not utter one word to Herod when sent to him by Pilate during His trial.
Strange as it may seem, God uses ordinary people to give His message to whoever will listen. Like John the Baptist, their main role is to tell folk to start listening to Jesus Christ, who has the words of eternal life. Indeed, Jesus is the Word of God made flesh. He is the bread come down from heaven that we may eat of Him and so have eternal life.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and life.
Jesus tells us that we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven unless we become as little children. We may enter as a result of sitting down at the feet of Jesus and listening to Him. As we listen to the words of Jesus we eat His Flesh and drink His blood and He gives us His life. Faith comes from hearing, and by hearing the word of (from) God. Jesus is He who only speaks the words of the Father, not His own words.
John 8:30 As he spoke these words, many believed on him. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; †And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.
John 10:17 Therefore my Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it up again. No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again. This commandment I have received of my Father.
John 10:27 †My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.
Luke 18:31 Then he took the twelve, and said to them, See, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and mocked, and spitefully treated, and spat upon: And they will scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he will rise again.
Isa 53:5 †But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:10 †Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you will make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, and they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes to me.
John 8:51 †Truly, truly, I say to you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
John 14:21 He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today, call out upon His name, If we repent and are baptised in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins we are promised we will
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, Whom Jesus (means God the Saviour in Hebrew) will pour upon and into all those who obey His commands.
God knows that a picture is worth a thousand words and where the message of repentance and remission of sins by the name of Jesus Christ is shared, God confirms that the message is true with signs and wonders. This is so we might believe, trust in, the power of God who raised His Son Jesus of Nazareth from the dead; rather than believe only the words of men.
We have two granddaughters and the youngest was born very pre-maturely. Her oesophagus went to her right lung instead of her stomach. Fortunately skilled surgeons were able to correct this. Her parents were informed that the surgery had went well but not to get too attached to her as it did not always work out. Give it six months to see how she does. After a year she was doing very well but at two years the parents were told she had a hole in the heart that was not closing and also a heart murmur.† At four years old it was decided to perform heart surgery to close the hole. She spent the night before going into hospital at our house. When she was tucked up in bed we prayed in the name of Jesus Christ that if it was Godís will she would be made completely well, or that God would look after her during the operation.
Next day I took her with her parents to the hospital. The day following she was anaesthetised and on the table for surgery. An ultrasound camera was inserted down the trachea to see how big the hole was.
There was no hole, no murmur, she was completely normal. The name of Jesus Christ, by faith in the name of Jesus Christ has made her completely whole.
If I tell my son something and it is obvious he needs some kind of evidence then I will do my best to present that evidence. God who loves us is the same with us. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, He still performs wonders so that we might believe what He tells us.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today, call out upon His name, and if you are willing to do whatever He may tell you, expect to hear from Him.
